    Secrets on the School Bus

High school besties Donna and April were riding home on the school bus on a sunny Friday last day of school, when Donna poked her friend in the arm.
“Hey, wanna go to the river when we get home?”
    April shrugged her shoulders.
“Come on,” Dona urged, “maybe my brother Ryan and Travis will be there.”
April replied, ‘Yeah, you like Travis I know.”
Donna countered. “And you like Ryan. Maybe he’ll ask you to the Fourth of July picnic.”
    April sighed dreamily.
She had no idea of the setup Donna and Ryan had planned.

    Summer Vacation

‘I’m so excited!” ten-year-old Kayla squealed as she sat next to her friend Shanelle on the bus. “I can’t wait until our families are together at Disney World.”
Shanelle blinked back tears. “Dad got laid off again. We can’t go.”
“Oh, no!” Kayla put an arm around Shanelle. “Hey, I know. Why don’t you come with us?”
    “Really?” Shanelle gazed at Kayla.
“Yes.” When we get off the bus, we’ll go to my house and ask my mom. Then, we’ll go to your house and ask yours, okay?”
Shanelle grinned. “You’re the best friend ever.” Both girls embraced.
