    No Teddy Bear Picnic

The full moom spilled her light into the forest clearing unaware,
The teddy bears had cleaned up their picnic with care.
Chairs of rocks sat silently to stare.
Until a father and daughter happened to appear there.

Holding his hand, the little girl asked,
“Why is no one here. Is the tedy bear’s picnic past?”
Her dad replied with a nod of his head.
“Let’s keep walking.” He told her instead.

    Harvest Moon Lullaby

“Daddy, I can’t sleep,” Barbara said, stepping onto the porch with her teddy bear.
The full moon illuminated a shiny object at her feet. She picked it up.
“That’s a magic rock,” her father said from the porch swing. “Come sit with me, and I’ll tell you all about it.”
Smiling, she snuggled next to him. His soft voice, the swing gently rocking, and chirping crickets soon lulled her to sleep

    Song chorus (probably country)

    You are the full moon
    In my arms—
    My Teddy Bear
    As we rock together
    All night long.

    Teddy Bear

Billy cuddled his Teddy bear as he gazed at the full moon. “Look
Teddy! The moon is shining in our pond. I can see it in the sky and
on the water, too.” They sat silently for a few minutes and then
Billy sighed, “Remember how much fun we had yesterday ski

    Wedding Day
    By Trish Hubschman

They got married on the beach,
    Standing at the water’s edge.
    Waves lapped against the rocks.
    It looked so pretty,
    Sounded so pretty.
There was a full moon in the sky.
    Stars twinkled overhead.
    It was beautiful and romantic.
Memorable for all that were present.
Now, thirty years later, on Valentine’s Day,
He gave her a cute, cuddly teddy bear.
    It says I love you.
    It was perfect.

    74 words + a 2-word title. This was fun.

    Teddy’s Secret

    Square parents never get it,
    And their kids don’t know,
    But when I come home
    In ribbons and bow,

And the little kid takes me
    To her bed for sleep,
    I get real bored
    And I have this need.

    It’s a need to move,
    A need for my feet
    To tap a rhythm,
    To dance and leap.

So when the full moon’s rising
    In the summer heat,
    This teddy bear rocks
    A wicked beat.

These are really great! Marlene, I love the imagery of teddy bears picnicing when no one’s looking, a kid who clearly knows it, and a dad in a hurry. Interesting commentary on the heart of a child and the need to recapture the magic as adults. Abbie, yours is just beautiful and creates the feel of a late-summer night in the West–beautiful sense of time, place and peace. Peter, I love country, but I’ve never called my wife Teddy Bear and probably won’t. Patricia, your depiction of a wedding remembered through a sweet gift is lovely, and Linda, I wish I knew how yours turned out. Fun stuff.
