    Beer, Pizza, and Other Junk
Christmas was finally here–the time that Betty and Bobby had waited for almost two years. Last year, at the start of the pandemic, Betty had been on a no-carb no sugar diet for six months, and her cravings never ceased. As a result, Bobby didn’t cook unless he was alone. Finally, the time had come for a junk-food extravaganza! Fifty people gathered at Betty and Bobby’s house! Pizza and chicken wings filled the stomachs and hearts of all guests with delight! Betty broke out her grandmother’s famous buckeyes and Bourbon fudge, and a junk-o-liciously good time was had by all!

I work diligently to control my junk. Last month I disposed of box after box of things I no longer use. I then spent the rest of the day patting myself on the back. This morning I proudly surveyed my home. To my horror all those empty spaces were again filled to overflowing. It’s obvious that my junk now controls me.

    I Am a Packrat
    12/14/2021

    I admit that I am a packrat.

I hardly ever throw anything away.

I even hesitate to discard email messages.

I do not use tea bags more than once though.

I blame my grandfather who also was a packrat, and would even save rusty nails, intending to clean them up some day.

    Now that really is junk.
