    Wild Horse Ranch
    by Marlene Mesot

Well this a fine howdy-do. Y’all bought that Longhorns Ranch and are planin’ to turn it into a wild horse pasture with corral fence and all. Good luck. You’re gonna need a mighty fine lasso to git them Mustangs to come ‘round.

Two men stood at the corral gate. The monstrous Texas longhorn bull lifted his head from the hay bale and eyed them with mild curiosity, then lowered his head to resume eating.
“I’m supposed to lasso that wild boy?” asked the new cowhand.
“just go right up and say Howdy y’all,” smirked the other cowhand.
He unlatched the gate and the two of them slipped inside ready for anything. The bull turned and they froze.
