Dr. Kathleen P. King – Author, Coach, Workshop/ Keynote Speaker, & Professor (Retired)
Kathy is an award winning author and editor who has published over 30 books and hundreds of articles. Complementing her vast experience in non-fiction, she enjoys writing fiction now as well. Her first science fiction book is expected to debut in summer 2022. She and her coauthor, Cheryl McNeil Fisher are also publishing some new short, nonfiction books for authors through their Writing Works Wonders podcast project.
As a series editor with Information Age Publishing and in her private coaching, she guides authors through the writing and publishing processes. “Kathy” is a popular keynote and conference speaker, mentor, and writing consultant. As a professor for 30+ years, she was a researcher, administrator, and educator.
Kathy’s 2018 book, “Technology and Innovation in Adult Learning” was published by John Wiley Press. This volume garnered the Textbook Excellence award from Textbook and Academic Authors. (This book is available in print and digital format at Amazon and also at Bookshare.) Her major areas of research include diversity, technology innovations, transformative learning, leadership, and faculty development. All of her adult learning and instructional technology books are available through Amazon and major resellers.
In 2019, Kathy began her journey with vision loss. A small, silent stroke (later diagnosed as NAION – an optic nerve condition) left her with low vision. At this point, she was unable to read or see a computer screen. In 2021, another rare episode of NAION reduced her sight further. Although she is now legally blind, cannot read, see people’s faces, or drive, Kathy enjoys writing, virtual volunteering, podcasting, public speaking, and coaching authors.
Since 2021, Kathy has returned to her beloved mountains, although this time living in Knoxville, TN. She lived near the east coast of the USA most of her life. Born in RI, growing up also in VT, she worked as an adult in ME, NH, VT, NJ/NY, and FL. To her delight, her professional and recreational interests enabled extensive international travel.
