Both in her career and volunteer work, Cheryl advocates for children and adults with a full spectrum of differently special traits. Her publications range from fiction to nonfiction. Her creative children’s books nurture imagination, goodness, kindness, and thankfulness, while introducing the lifestyles of differently abled people. Audiences benefit from Cheryl’s counseling background through her positive, supportive perspective. Cheryl lives in the Hudson Valley area of NY.

Dr. Kathy King, cohost and cofounder of Writing Works WondersDr. Kathy King 

  • Author, Coach, Workshop/ Keynote Speaker, & Professor (Ret.)
  • Dr. Kathleen P. King  (Kathy) is an award winning author and editor who has published over 30 books and 200+ articles/papers. As a series editor with Information Age Publishing and in her private coaching, she guides authors through the writing and publishing processes. “Kathy” is a popular keynote and conference speaker, mentor, and writing consultant. As a professor for 30+ years, she was a researcher, administrator, and educator. Her major areas of research include diversity, research, technology innovations, college teaching, transformative learning, leadership, and faculty development. Her 2018 book, “Technology and Innovation in Adult Learning”, garnered the Textbook Excellence award from Textbook and Academic Authors. Since 2021, Kathy lives in Knoxville, TN actively coaching authors, podcasting, public speaking, and writing.

Each semester, we hope to have a volunteer intern whom we may encourage in their writing and publishing career.  If you were in rolled in college, we might be able to work out an internship in which you earn credit. Allison Vasquez (Summer 2022)

Allison joins us as an in intern in Summer 2022. Im 2021, she graduated from State University of New Paltz, New York. Her major is digital media production, and her minor is creative writing.

 

 

Sara Cassieri  PhptoSara Cassieri (Spring 2022)

Sara studies English at Mount Saint Mary College and graduated with a bachelor’s in May 2022. She enjoys writing short stories and poems. In her free time, she creates mosaic paintings. Sara is excited to work with Writing Works Wonders and collaborate with Cheryl and Kathy.

DeAnna Quietwater Noriega 
 

DeAnna is half Apache, and a quarter Chippewa. She is the mother of three. As a result of congenital glaucoma, she became totally blind at the age of eight. DeAnna has been a poet/writer since childhood. Her most recent publication is a book titled Fifty Years of Walking with Friends. The book chronicles in poetry and prose the story of her life with nine guide dogs.

DeAnna and her husband met while attending college and he joined her in the Peace Corps. They worked together to establish a school for blind children in Western Samoa.

 

Ann Chiappetta M.S.

Making meaningful connections with others through writing.

Since 1998, Ann’s poems, creative nonfiction, essays and fiction have appeared in print journals, online magazines, blogs and small press reviews. Because listening to a story or poem is reading with one’s ears, Ann strives to produce all her writing in audio for people with print disabilities, including performance poetry podcast interviews and informational presentations.

Ann lives in New York’s historic and beautiful lower Hudson valley and continues to develop a mutually beneficial relationship with her assistive technology.
