STEPHEN WAS BORN IN LEWISTON MAINE AND MOVED TO ATTLEBORO MASSACHUSETTS AS A CHILD. HE ATTENDED PERKINS SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND. HE EARNED HIS BACHELORS DEGREE AT RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE IN COMPUTER, SCIENCE AND ENGLISH LITERATURE. AS AN ENTREPRENEUR, HE WORKED IN DEVELOPING SOFTWARE FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED. IN ADDITION TO HIS WORK, AS AN AUTHOR, HE. EARNS INCOME AS A USABILITY TESTER, AND ADA COMPLIANCE TESTER.
