Freeloading Goats
On a sunny morning in May, Lucia and Kim were riding in a jeep through the back roads of Saint Thomas in the Virgin Islands when they came upon a group of goats standing in the middle of the road. Kim stopped the vehicle and groaned. Suddenly a goat jumped toward the picnic basket and Kim swatted him aside. Meanwhile, another grabbed a sandwich and the feeding frenzy was on.
When the goats had pranced away, Kim said, “C’mon, Lucia, there’s a village up ahead. We’ll buy another lunch. This time we’ll put it in a container those moochers can’t get into!”

the two girls bolted out to go rescue them. Billy, Willie, Betty and Millie were stray goats, who had run away from their parents.
“Are you all right?” Kim asked, cuddling up to Billy and Willie.
“You had us frightened,” Lucia said hugging Millie and Betty. “Let’s go for a walk!” They walked about two miles across the St. Thomas Bridge, and it wasn’t very long before the goats got hungry!
“I’m hungry too,” said Kim.
“Me too!” Lucia agreed. “Let’s go order some pizza!” The goats faces lit up at that. So, they all jumped back into the jeep and at the corner was Romano’s Pizza. There they picked up four cheese pizzas with extra cardboard boxes for the new “kids” to enjoy. Billy, Willie, Millie, and Betty loved to eat cardboard boxes! They were addicted! Back home, the girls ate and the goats were safe at last.

Kim stopped the vehicle and both girls got out. They stepped back as the goats began to approach them. They shouted and waved their hands and arms, but the goats kept coming.
“Maybe we can find some grass and camouflage the jeep.” Kim suggested.
“Then what?” Lucia asked.
Kim shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. “This isn’t happening.”
