Autumn Orange
(Sonnet)
by Marlene Mesot
Orange pumpkin and butternut squash,
They are sweet for pies and breads by gosh.
Orange, yellow, red and golden brown,
Autumn leaves fall gently to the ground.
Chestnuts, pine cones falling gently these,
From their branches in the autumn breeze.
Autumn orange in the forest dwell,
Creatures scurrying ‘fore winters tell.
Autumn orange yields to winter’s white,
As the season cools with winter’s bite.
Foliage, bright colors, vivid, keen,
Morning frost reminds of winters scheme.
Be ready for snow and ice to fall.
Heed the warning of winter’s coming call.

AN Autumnal Afternoon
As I sit in a shady spot on my back lawn,
a cool breeze caresses me under a blue, cloudless sky
amid grass parched by lack of rain.
The air is silent
but for distant barking dogs, humming traffic on an adjacent street.
No bird songs fill the air—no creatures flit about.
At least there are no mosquitoes, bees, or flies.
Fall is definitely in the air. After summer’s heat, autumn couldn’t come soon enough.

When I Think Of Fall
By Rebeca Valladares
Hey everybody, fall is here. So it’s time to start layering your clothing. And some of us also have to remember to turn the clock an hour back, but it’s nice to have technology to help us with that.
If you enjoy baking, it’s time to start stalking up on all of your essentials. Many wonderful holidays are celebrated all around the world during this time of the year. So this is the perfect season to start preparing for them.
Last but not least, it’s flu season so make sure to try and take extra care of yourself and loved ones because the last thing you need before the festivities begin is to fall ill.
