Looking up from down here I appreciate the fine dimensions of this pit I have just fallen into. The mud is cool with an earthy scent, just enough room for my width and plenty for my length, being the sleek creature that I am. I must speculate on such a clever idea to tuck a tarp under the myriad of a colorful fall leave covering. I wish I had thought of it. The walls of finely packed dirt are so smooth I wonder what effort went into such scraping and careful preparation.

But not I must stop admiring and start pondering my predicament. Even though there is light from the sky high above, I find no resources to help myself ascend to the top. A shiver of excitement ripples through me as my keen ears pick up a sound, a voice, calling my name. I bark loudly.
