Tommy, the eldest at twelve, halts as rustling sounds emerge nearby. He discovers a toddler’s scooter obstructing their way and, further along, a small shoe that belonged to a young girl. The girls, Amy and Nellie, likely aged around nine or ten, and the youngest, Toby at seven, accompany him. This unsettling discovery hints at a mysterious situation, leaving the children surprised and concerned about what might have occurred in the park.

Oops I mean. Maple leaves, Hickory nuts. I enjoy healing laughs after I realize mistakes as I write due to my loss of sight. Through our mistakes we can learn to find the humor and positive attitude it takes to move beyond mishaps and mistakes. Here we go walking through the leaves that Mabel our maple tree releases to the ground and becomes a child’s playground as they jump and play around.. Then out of the funny mistake a tree named. Harry’s hickory nuts which papa found on the ground.Let’s ho and roast and make hickory butter for toast. Trish Laube

As they walked through the leaves on the earthy sidewalk, kicking them up showering bright autumn colors around, the twins suddenly stopped as a dark area was revealed up ahead.

Brother Jim exclaimed, “Careful.”

Sister Jeffie blinked and stared.

Jim stooped to brush away debris to reveal a fallen limb across their path. Bent forward with his ear near the bark Jim looked up. “Hear that…hissing?”

Jeffie shook her head.

In a flurry of motion leaves rustled and flew as a small dark blur scurried out from under darting off.

They ran after the small dark streak.
