Now, I plan events and book tours with the characters in costume, so it’s no wonder I dreamt that I woke up in the body of Benjamin Franklin.
As I walked through the city, I saw 1776 Philadelphia through his eyes and experienced a mind that never stopped. He was constantly thinking about how he could create something that would enhance the lives of others. As a result, I gained a deeper appreciation for his contributions to American history.

I lay in a world of silent darkness. Something was wrong. Usually, I saw the ceiling and walls of my bedroom and sunlight streaming in through the windows and heard barking dogs and cars starting, as my neighbors got ready to leave for work. But now, I saw and heard nothing.
Someone took my hand and started tapping my palm. I suddenly realized that words were being spelled into it, and I knew what the person was saying.
“Good morning, Helen. Are you ready to get up?” Was I really Helen Keller?

At the urgent shouts I bend to pick up another chest of Bohea black tea to hurl into Boston Harbor. I recognize Samuel Adams shouting orders from Griffin’s Wharf. Looking around I see Alexander Hamilton and Paul Revere. I’m hot and sweaty in this Indian costume even though the air is bitingly cold. I have strength I didn’t realize. Wait, what am I doing in a man’s body? Stunned that I’m one of the Sons of Liberty, facts surface. It’s December 16, 1773 and we must dump 342 cases of tea at the Boston Tea Party.

February 2023

Pa is going to take me and Mary to school today in the rig. I’m so excited. I don’t mind walking the two miles to school, but it’s fun to sit up next to Pa when he’s driving the horses. I don’t have to get up as early today to do my chores before breakfast. It’s so cold out and I get to stay nice and warm under the blanket and next to Mary.
”Laura, time to get up,” Ma called.
Oh well, I have to use the outhouse anyway.
