At the verge of the crime scene the detective stood.
He paused a moment to put up his parka’s hood.
Freezing rain pelted down
Upon the nearly frozen ground.
He could see the body sprawled cattywampus,
Around it no clues taunted pompous.

Other police officers were at work.
Their duties, they did not shirk.
Photographing,
Evidence gathering,
Hastily they worked, searching for any clue.
They all wished to escape the falling icy dew.
