She made it neat as could be.
Then, Chief Seeing Eye Dog Blue and I, went bouncing about around our neighborhood. Because the weather was so good.
There were no pumpkins lit yet, but we knew they soon would be lighting our way, throughout the Halloween holiday!

The pumkins, guarding each house, lit with brightness looked for cover. Even the leaves seemed to howl in agony. An orange tom-cat found its way to a warm spot on a set of brick steps, still hot from the sun, like a heating oad. . As warmth filled its paws, stoping the stinging numbness, The clouds broke The cat welconed Autumn.

“Honey, I don’t think anyone’s home,” I told my eight-year-old daughter Jennifer.

“But nobody goes off and leaves a lighted pumpkin in the window,” she said. “Look at the cat!”

An eerie howling suddenly erupted from the screened-in side porch. Jennifer screamed.

I grabbed her hand. “Let’s get away from here.” We didn’t stop running until we’d traversed the three blocks to our lighted front porch.

I was howling along with the Monster Mash,
When I was showered by the pumpkin I smashed.
Fall leaves covered my hiding place.
I am a black cat without disgrace.

While fallen leaves crunch under feet.

Buckem my cat thinks he’s smarter than me.
Hiding in pumpkins, but his tail I see.

He pounces, he howls, and springs the attack
I laugh so hard I fall on my back.

She cuddles, I purr, while we lay in the leaves
I nuzzle for treats, I know are for me.

My human unknowingly does obey
Because I manipulate to make it my way.

“Billie! What is that cat howling for?”
“Aw, Mom. He’s just mad at me. I stuck some leaves on my Halloween pumpkin for hair. I think it kinda scared him.”
