“What if it’s something…terminal?” June’s voice quavered as she blinked rapidly.
Pale faced husband Henry shook his head rapidly.
June sighed, then wailed, “Poor Spot! He’s only a ten-month-old puppy.”
Agonizing minutes later, the elderly veterinarian slowly approached. Wrinkles and lines added to his grim-faced appearance.
Raising anxious and scared faces, June and Henry held loosely to each other’s forearms.
The doctor’s voice was gruff. “It’s transmutable…but treatable. Spot has COVID.”
